Elements of Contemporary Garden Design

By: Natalie Aranda

There are many elements of contemporary garden design. Of course, there are more than a few different styles of modern garden design and each individual has a right to express his/her own style in his/her own garden. That’s really what makes contemporary garden design so interesting. Today there are so many different flowers, plants, trees, and shrubs available from all over the world that you can practically create a multinational garden if you want to or you could focus on recreating a particular style or time period garden.

New types of elements are now included in garden design that didn’t use to be included simply because they did not exist. These include interlocking pavers, which are little bricks that can be placed on the ground and interlocked with others to make a path or stepping stones. They are available in all colors, shapes and styles and they can really accent a contemporary garden. Concrete brick pavers are also an option and they are very similar to interlocking pavers except for the fact that don’t interlock. This makes them useful if you like the stepping stone look for a garden.

Another interesting element that works very well for contemporary gardens is vinyl fences and vinyl products. Vinyl fences are so wonderful for contemporary garden design because they can be built in any form you desire. Also, they stay white and clean looking forever not to mention last for years and years because they are made of vinyl. You don’t have to worry about the beauty of your garden being compromised with vinyl fences because they always stay beautiful and will always enhance your contemporary garden.

There are actually some other elements that are being used in contemporary gardens from garden ornaments to certain types of plants and flowers. Currently, it is very trendy to use different color palettes in a garden and to focus on how the different colors will grown and effect the colors of the plants and flowers nearby. Great planning should go into planting a contemporary garden in order to ensure beauty and style. If you are new to gardening then a contemporary garden is perfect for you because it can really be anything you are dreaming of. Simply create a plan, buy the plants, plant them, and then nourish your garden as it grows and prospers.
